Fight Conditioning, football conditioning, sports conditioning, "anything" conditioning!  All these types of "conditioning" serve a different purpose or sport.  And although different, they share a similarity in some aspects.  One aspect is that conditioning that has been properly programmed and executed with maximum effort achieves great results in that sport or area of focus.  Another similar thing happening with these different types of conditioning is a trend where training has gone and where it is heading.

I was watching college football the other day and was supporting my team as they went on to win their game. When the commercials came on I had to chuckle!  Lo and Behold there was a clip of one of the PAC-10 football players doing Battle Ropes.  I laughed because I was a trainer at that college.  It's funny because something SO "NEW" is really not so new at all.  How does some of the most basic techniques in Martial Arts developed hundreds of years ago from people who were fighting for their lives and defending family and country magically slips into a "NEW" combo or technique?  How does that happen?

Now don't get me wrong, there are pioneers in the industry of fitness and performance. Strength Coach Mentors of mine such as Mr. Zach Even-Esh using old school hard core movements and lifts.  Old school hard core equipment such as Kettlebells, Ropes, Big Tires, sled devices, and Stones are nothing new!  Another great example is when Great Martial Arts Mentors such as Datu Kelly Worden shows techniques connecting different systems to develop a unique and effective method of self defense.  Are any of these methods new? None whatsoever.  How you express yourself in these training methods to progress yourself forward is what counts.  I train in Underground Strength Training Methods for power and strength. In addition, I train in the Martial Arts under Datu Kelly Worden NSI (Natural Spirit International) for self defense, tactical combat, mind, body, and spirit.  In combining these types of training I can execute my martial arts moves efficiently and with power so that I can express myself within the arts but more importantly to protect my family and preserve life.
